HOME STUDIOS, SINGAPORE
Having established Home Studios in Singapore’s Chinatown District in 2004, co-owners Wayne Klin and Joshua Chia, have established themselves as a key, independent post-production studio. Singapore continues to make inroads into high definition television (HDTV) with 5.1 surround sound capability and both Mr. Klin and Chia recently took a financial leap of faith by investing in a Dolby system for their Pro Tools 2.0 D Command set-up. SSL Asia’s Chang Kheng Wah supplied a DP564 (multi-channel digital decoder), DP569 (digital audio encoder), a DP570 (multi-channel audio tool) and an LM100 (broadcaster loudness meter) enabling the pair to mix in true surround capability. “Each piece of equipment comes with software and so it can be all controlled from a single PC,” explained Mr. Klin. “We were largely inspired to take this route having met up with Walla Workx from Japan, who design computer games. We had been intrigued for some time, but they showed us how they used it on their Pro Tools set-up in real time. Home Studios, whose diverse range of clients include the Discovery Channel, Levis and the Animal Planet, also acquired a Quested 5.1 surround sound system from Mr. Chang, consisting of five S6 monitors in combination with an SB10 monitor. “They are extremely flat, but just as they should be,” furthered Mr. Khin. “You can really eke out the blemishes with them, so much so that the client rarely asks us to re-mix a piece. There are few other studios now in Singapore who can offer the same service as ourselves – it represents a significant set up from Pro Logic without the upgrade.” www.homestudio.com.sg Richard Lawn, General Manager, Pro Audio Asia www.proaudioasia.com Tel - +44(0)1892.676280
