Frequently Asked Questions - Performance
What should I consider when choosing between passive and self-powered speakers?
Do you already own a good quality amplifier? If not, then self-powered is usually a more cost-effective solution: Consider whether it is easy for you to run signal cables and mains power to the speakers, or just speaker cable. Amps generate heat, so do you want the heat from self powered speakers in the room, or the heat from external amplifiers in another room.
What is the best Quested stereo system for a small recording / mixing room?
The new V2108.
Which is better: S7R, S8R or and S6/SB10R combination?
In a good room and with the system correctly adjusted the S6/SB10 combination. In a dodgy room with minimal acoustic treatment, probably the 7s or 8s....
For 5.1 mixing, which Quested products combine best?
Depends on the room size, but don’t mix active with passive monitors. The S-Series are designed to mix & match, as are the V-Series and Q-series.
