NEAR-FIELD MONITORS have become increasingly popular since the late 1970s when recording engineers began working in studios where they were unfamiliar or unhappy with the Main Monitors. |

The choice of amplifier used to power the monitors is also critical; this together with convenience and cost has lead to the increasing popularity of self-powered models. The Quested range of self-powered models is fitted with powerful amplifiers having more than enough headroom to deliver sustained bass notes and the largest transients cleanly.
As the name suggests, they are designed for use in close proximity to the engineer/producer. Although the room acoustics have a minimal effect on the performance of Near-Fields, good positioning and support are required to obtain optimum performance.
