Sub Woofers are often used to provide bass extension to Near-Field and Mid-Field monitors.
A well designed Sub-Woofer will integrate completely with the satellite cabinets, effectively making a two-way Near-Field into a three-way monitor, or a three-way Mid-Field into a four-way monitor. Sub-woofers are also used to reproduce the low frequency (.1) content of multi-channel audio e.g. 5.1 and 6.1.

They are also used to increase the low frequency power handling of full range systems used for film and dance music.

In almost all cases, we recommend the use of more than one subwoofer, as 2 smaller subs will give you more even response and fewer problems than one big one. Our SBC800 is designed to drive multiple subs, without additional amplifiers, so if you need advice, please get in touch.
