At Audio Expo Seoul 2025, Fullrange, the organiser of the event, visited the booth where Quested speakers were on display and spoke with Younghwa Cho of MVM Distribution about the brand and its approach to monitoring.

The Quested display at the show featured a broad selection of models, including the V2104, V2108, VQ3110, VH3208, AP1550-2, SBC250, SB10R, and SB8, offering visitors a chance to see a wide range of Quested monitoring systems presented together in one space.

During the conversation, Cho introduced Quested as a long-established British loudspeaker manufacturer founded by Roger Quested over four decades ago. While the brand may still be less familiar to some audiences in Korea, Quested has earned the trust of artists, engineers and studios around the world through its longstanding commitment to precision, balance and accurate monitoring.

JYK (Fullrange):
We are here at Composer's MIDI Store, one of the notable booths at Seoul Audio Show 2025, joined by CEO Younghwa Cho. Could you briefly introduce Quested for us?

Younghwa Cho (MVM Distribution):
Quested is a British loudspeaker brand founded around 40 years ago by speaker designer Roger Quested. Although it may still be relatively unfamiliar in Korea, the brand has been used for decades by many artists and studios around the world. Representative users include Hans Zimmer, Serban Ghenea and Trevor Horn, who is widely recognised for helping define the British pop sound.

JYK (Fullrange):
I'm particularly interested in the large model on the outside.

Younghwa Cho (MVM Distribution):
This is the VH3208, a passive loudspeaker with a 3-way design and two 8-inch drivers. Once you understand how the model name reflects those specifications, it becomes quite easy to remember.

The VQ3110, meanwhile, is a self-powered active model. As the name suggests, the"3"refers to the 3-way design, while the model is fitted with a single 10-inch driver.

As mentioned earlier, more listeners today are taking an interest in monitor loudspeakers that originated in studio environments, while studios themselves are increasingly working with hi-fi and high-end loudspeakers developed for listening purposes. The distinction between these two categories appears to be becoming less defined.

Quested's aim, like that of many respected monitor manufacturers, is to deliver precision, accuracy and detail — to allow the listener to hear the source as it is. These are not loudspeakers voiced to emphasise a particular frequency range. If one were to point to a possible limitation, some may find them less overtly flattering at first listen. Yet that commitment to accurate reproduction remains central to their value.

JYK (Fullrange):
Given that Quested is used by internationally recognised figures such as Hans Zimmer and some of the most awarded engineers in Grammy history, I believe those who appreciate a balanced and faithful presentation of sound would find the experience especially worthwhile.

JYK (Fullrange):
Thank you.

With its emphasis on precision, balance and truthful reproduction, Quested continues to show why it remains a trusted name in professional monitoring across the world.
